Trace a Mobile Phone

You don't need to be James Bond to trace a mobile phone - 3CX Mobile Device Manager can trace it for youMost of us have seen it in the movies. Somebody is on the run from the authorities and makes a phone call. The police force quickly jump to action, triangulating signals and whatnot in order to trace the mobile phone but the caller is too clever for that – he hangs up just a few seconds too early for the location to be pinpointed. The police chief slams his fist down on the desk in frustration.

Being able to trace a mobile phone used to be Bond-esque Hollywood fiction, but not anymore. With mobile device management, it’s simple for anyone to trace a mobile phone from the comfort of their own office or home. Most mobile devices already have GPS tracking fitted.

3CX Mobile Device Manager provides you with the ability to trace a mobile phone, and there are many reasons why being able to trace a mobile phone is useful. I’ve used it to track my children when they’ve been out late and I’ve been worried. Perhaps you want to know where a friend or relative is.

Many businesses are turning to mobile device management systems such as 3CX Mobile Device Manager so that they can track their employees. Why would a company want to do that? Imagine this scenario: An important client calls up and urgently requires assistance. By being able to trace a mobile phone, you can see which of your employees is closest to the call-out and redirect them to improve response time.

Being able to find and track mobile devices with 3CX Mobile Device Manager also means you have data at your fingertips that shows you what routes each device has taken. This is a great feature which means you can check whether staff are taking the most efficient routes or leaving their designated areas, both to improve efficiency as well as reduce fuel costs.

Other companies have traced a mobile phone when employees are in dangerous areas, for security reasons. Perhaps, for example, a journalist reporting on the latest news in a war-torn country, or a photographer documenting it.

Sure, the movies wouldn’t be as gripping if they all were able to trace a mobile phone with 3CX Mobile Device Manager, but you can avoid the drama at home or in the office. Sign up for your free 3CX Mobile Device Manager account today. The 3CX MDM Team have created a step-by-step guide to help you get started with 3CX Mobile Device Manager.

    • @Maricel Have you enabled your GPS and your WiFi connection? have you moved the device more than the minimum distance required for it to update? to update the location log into the Mobile Device Manager console (go to admin.mobiledevicemanager.com) log in using your credentials, go to the “Devices” node , click on the device that you want to update its position. click on the map tab and then click on “Get Current Position”. Let us know if you have any more questions.

    • Hi Maricel, you can also adjust the location update settings from the following path:

Log into the MDM Portal > Devices > select the device > Policy

      and ensure that:

      1) Send Location Updates is set to Force GPS / Network
      2) Minimum Location Update Distance is set to 1 meter for more accurate tracking
      3) Save tracking history is enabled

  3. Yeah sure there are several ways to track number, but is this even proven? I don’t think a phone number lookup like the ones in Hollywood movies exist in real life. Just ask James Bond about it.

Has anyone tried using 3CX Mobile Device Manager? If so, is it effective? I wanted to know if this is really an effective tool for tracing numbers, just like what the author is saying.

The 3CX MDM client is required in order to send location updates to the 3CX MDM server and also receive commands.

Without the 3CX client, this shall not be possible.
